Productize Your Design Skills
As a designer, your skills are worth more than the hours you trade for them. Productizing your expertise means packaging what you know into templates, courses, or tools that sell while you sleep — turning your craft into a scalable business.
The first step is identifying the repeatable parts of your workflow. What do you do every single project that clients always need? A brand kit, a UI component library, a set of mockups — these are all candidates for products. The key insight is that you've already done the work once; a product just lets you do it thousands of times.
Start small. A Notion template or a Figma component pack can earn its first dollar within days of launching on Gumroad or Polar. Don't wait until it's perfect — ship early, collect feedback, and iterate. The market will tell you what it needs.
The hardest part isn't creation — it's distribution. Build in public, share your process on X, and let people follow along. By the time you launch, you'll have an audience waiting. That's the real product: trust.
